Editing
2014–2016 (with contract work ongoing): Copy editor/proofer for Epicure, a Canadian direct sales healthy meal solutions company, where I proofread all outgoing materials, including catalogues, labels, recipes, and flyers, and wrote content when required.
2013–2014: Editor of Boulevard magazine, Victoria’s longest-running lifestyle magazine, where I chose story lineups, edited submissions, and wrote content.
2010–2012: UVic Writing Department marking assistant, where I helped mark first-year journalism students’ work, including briefs, query letters and features.
Writing + Communications
2016–present: Marketing communications specialist for Carmanah Technologies, a publicly traded company focused on signalling and solar lighting solutions for infrastructure, where I write website copy, thought leadership articles, project summaries, and social media posts, among other responsibilities.
2011–2013: Media column writer at Volunteer Victoria, where I wrote weekly blurbs for newspapers on volunteer opportunities, posts for their blog, and content for the 2011/12 annual report.
2003–2008: University of Victoria degree in creative non-fiction with communications co-op jobs with the Knowledge Network and the Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC, among others.
Self-Publishing
2012–2013: Espresso Book Machine operator at the UVic Bookstore, where I designed and laid out books, helped customers create a beautiful finished product, and ran the machine to create the books.
2008–2009: Author Support Representative at Trafford Publishing (while it was based in Victoria, BC), where I helped authors through the self-publishing process.
Printing
2009-2012: Morriss Printing/Edwards Brothers iGen3/iGen4 operator; I also ran the saddle-stitch binder and cover laminator, while completing other tasks around the print shop as required.
